Dr. Boyd Haley to speak on the link between mercury toxicity and Alzheimer’s disease at this year’s FREE Holistic Oral Health Summit

Dr. Boyd Haley received a B.S. in Chemistry/Physics from Franklin College in 1963. He served as a medic in the U.S. army from 1964 to 1966 while attaining a M.S. in chemistry at the University of Idaho, and later a Ph.D. in Chemistry/Biochemistry at Washington State University. In addition, Dr. Haley served as a NIH Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Physiology, Yale University Medical School from 1971 to 1974.(1) Dr. Haley will be offering his expert knowledge of holistic dentistry at the Holistic Oral Health Summit, which runs September 28 through October 5. After Dr. Haley received his doctorate, he had his first academic appointment at the University of Wyoming, where he was promoted to a full professor in 1983. Dr. Haley continued to climb the social ladder in 1985, when he was appointed as the first scientist as professor in the College of Pharmacy and in the Department of Biochemistry of the University of Kentucky Medical Center. By 1996, he was appointed as Chair and Professor of Chemistry/Biochemistry in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Kentucky. He continues to serve as a renowned lecturer throughout the country.(1,2)

Over the past 17 years, Dr. Haley has put Alzheimer’s disease under the microscope in his laboratory. His research on the biochemical aberrancies of the disease led him to discover that mercury toxicity is a major factor, if not the underlying cause, of Alzheimer’s disease. A diagnostics test for Alzheimer’s disease that Dr. Haley helped developed is now being used by clinical diagnostic laboratories.(2,3)

As a forerunner of the vaccine debate, Dr. Haley was one of the first people to propose that the organic mercury preservative thimerosal in vaccine was likely the culprit behind Gulf War Syndrome and autism related disorders. In the past few years, Dr. Haley has invested his efforts in testifying before Congressional committees and the Institute of Medicine on the link between mercury toxicity and neurological diseases.(2)

Dr. Haley will be speaking at this year’s FREE Holistic Oral Health Summit. Thirty-four world-renowned speakers will lecture on how oral health relates to a host of diseases that plague modern culture, including cancer, heart disease and diabetes. These lectures can be viewed for free online.

Dr. Haley will speak on “Mercury Exposure: An Alzheimer’s Disease Alert” at this year’s summit. The lecture will provide insight on how mercury blocks the brain from functioning properly, provide proof on how the mercury in “silver” filings can cause Alzheimer’s disease, and the best nutrients to safely detoxify mercury from your body.

“I can unequivocally say that if you’re going to get Alzheimer’s disease, having dental amalgams and exposure to mercury is going to quicken its development dramatically,” says Dr. Haley.

“The thing that absolutely happens in the Alzheimer’s disease brain is that the synaptic connections breakdown dramatically. And, this is what mercury does extremely well – in terms of breaking down these connections.”

“And only mercury – no other heavy metal – would cause this breakdown of the neurons in the brain.”

“We can absolutely say that mercury can trigger all of the apparent biochemistry that it can induce, that leads to the development of Alzheimer’s disease.”

“But, you can’t get a grant from the NIH to look at mercury as a cause of Alzheimer’s disease. They won’t even listen to it, they won’t fund it. I know because I’ve tried.”
